Abstract

For 12 years Abby Frey has demonstrated excellence in Licensed and Certified Dental Assisting. Abby completed Dental Assistant training in Rochester, MN, home of the Mayo Clinic, where she had the honor of interning and beginning her dental career by joining their department of Dental Specialties. After leaving the Mayo Clinic, Abby transitioned to private practice where she led one of the most progressive dental teams in the world for over 10 years. Abby currently applies her passion for leadership, mentorship and career empowerment as the Dental Assistant Training Specialist for a Dental Support Organization that is leading the industry. When Abby is not elevating other dental professionals, she coaches others in their health and wellness journeys. Abby, her husband and two young children enjoy camping, golfing, as well as hiking and shamelessly enjoy couch and movie time together whenever they can.

Is an engaged, productive and welcoming work environment something you aspire to provide in your practice? Are you seeking the loyal “lifers” to join your practice? It starts with day one. An intentional onboarding process is the difference between a “job” and a “career” for your new team members. What tone are you setting?

Welcoming new team members is over-looked far too often. I believe, in order to stop the 'Turnover Turntable’ from spinning, an effective on-boarding process is a must, but what does that look like? Through my own experience in leading and managing dental team members, I have compiled a “back to the basics” approach to onboarding. We will cover the ways in which to ensure your new team members feel welcomed, well informed and valued. I take those learning objectives and break them down for you into actions.

Upon completion of this course, you will leave with not only the knowledge and motivation to provide an effective onboarding for any new team member, but you will also leave with tangible tools needed to get there. I have created a fully customizable “Welcome to the Team'' blueprint. This fill-in-the-blank guide will help take these course's objectives and put them into action. Knowing what the action needed is one thing, but knowing where to start is where many lose the motivation to apply. Allow me to help you!

Dentistry has been at the forefront of safety for years. Educational Objectives

After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:
• Implement a ground-breaking technique in the operatory to manage stress, prevent headaches, reduce fatigue and prevent dehydration.
• Discover the single most important dental ergonomic intervention to prevent neck pain.
• Identify painful trigger points and the mechanisms by which they develop.
• Uncover what research shows is the best type of exercise to prevent pain in dentistry.

Abstract

Did you know that one-third of dentists who retire early are forced to do so because of a musculoskeletal disorder? Untreated chronic pain can result in physical and financial disaster!
Now more than ever, during the COVID-19 pandemic, mental stress and heavy PPE can add to physical demands in the operatory, resulting in headaches, fatigue, and dehydration. Due to the multifactorial nature of work-related pain in dentistry, rarely does a single intervention (i.e., new loupes, strength training) permanently resolve chronic pain issues.
Research reveals 5 key areas that are essential to effectively resolving work-related pain in dentistry. The sequence in which these are implemented is also integral to successfully resolving pain.
Based on Dr. Valachi's new eBook, this dynamic, interactive webinar introduces ground-breaking education that can help rejuvenate your love for dentistry and transform your life!

The Importance of an Up-to-Date Dental Practice--Hardware, Software, and Data Security

Categories:

Target Audience: Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienist, Dentists

Duration: 38:33

View Video

Synopsis

Data security is all about business continuity. Protecting your practice and is vitally important, and Henry Schein One wants to help ensure your Dental Practice is protected. We will be discussing five main components of data security, including being current with your practice software applications, data backups, firewalls, and OS/security/anti-virus updates.

No matter the type of dental practice you have, data backups are the first step to making sure your practice is protected. Number two is a robust firewall, which can allow for remote office VPN connections as well as protect your dental office setup from inappropriate web content, malicious web software and internet threats as well as eliminates time and cost associated with multiple single-point security products. The third step is keeping your operating system and applications up to date on at least a quarterly basis. This includes the practice management software you are running. The fourth step is protecting your devices from the user by using antivirus software. Antivirus software helps protect your hardware against malware, spyware and other viruses.

4 Strategies for Building a Stronger, Better Practice in the New Normal

Categories: ,

Target Audience: Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienist, Dentists

Duration: 56 minutes and 36 seconds

View Video

Synopsis

Greek philosopher Epictetus is credited with this statement: “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”

To say that this time in the dental industry is unprecedented would be an understatement. Office closures, team furloughs and layoffs, locating PPE and knowing how to use it confused many, and few offices were prepared for the consequences. Government mandates, employees’ reluctance to return and patients’ fears of possible exposure significantly affected our practices. The term “new normal” became an over-used phrase to describe the unknown factors that changed our practice and our lives.

But now what? What do we put in place to help our practices grow and create a better version of our work?

Join us for a free webinar to learn how to increase your practice’s effectiveness. You will also see how cloud-based practice management system Dentrix Ascend can help you improve your team’s efficiency and set your practice up for ongoing success.

If this is, indeed, a time of “new normal,” learn how to create new and better “norms” that generate exceptional results. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn strategies to help you build a better, stronger practice and how Dentrix Ascend can help you achieve your goals.

Hardware as a Service: The Future of Dental IT

Categories:

Target Audience: Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienist, Dentists

Duration: 23:51

Synopsis

A digital dental practice is a complex puzzle of components. Every piece of hardware, every service and every software application must work together to support the important work dentists do. However, because dentists aren’t typically information technology (IT) experts, network issues are common for many practices, who regularly face major impediments in the shape of systems performance and integration issues. Because network hardware components typically need to be replaced every 3-5 years, it’s common for practices to use new equipment alongside old. But how can a practice keep their hardware up to date and still ensure each component will work together? Join TechCentral by Henry Schein One as they show you how a “Hardware as a Service” model, with hardware and services designed specifically for the demands of dental practices, saves money while ensuring that the dentists can spend their time providing care to their patients instead of worrying about their IT issues.
