Educational Objectives

After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Learn the indications and contraindications for bioceramics.
  • Know and understand how and why the current bioceramics are preferred over previously used materials.
  • List and know the many uses for bioceramics.
  • Learn the proper techniques for placing bioceramics in pediatric and adult dentistry.

Abstract

Dentistry has come a long way since the time of Buckley's Formocresol in 1904. A better understanding of the biology of the pulp and improvements in dental materials have created the new mantra 'give the pulp a chance' compared to the past where many primary and permanent teeth had to be extracted. The new bioceramics have proven to be a superior alternative to previous treatments. This course will describe the indications and contraindications of bioceramics in common dental procedures for primary and permanent teeth such as pulpotomies, direct pulp caps, and indirect pulp caps. This course will also describe the technique and the ease of application in the uses of bioceramics. This evidence-based course will provide the tools necessary to make your pulp therapies a success.
