Abstract
As clinicians, we are pressed for time in the busy day of serving patients, yet we want to do all we can to provide optimal care for each patient during the appointment time. That includes the early detection of head and neck, oral, and oropharyngeal cancers, or other conditions. Dental hygienists and dentists often report not feeling completely confident when performing the Visual and Tactile, Intraoral, and Extraoral evaluation/EOIO. Practice and consistently performing any procedure leads to confidence and efficiency. Utilizing Susan’s instructional screening videos, we will review a thorough EOIO, and discuss components of the oropharyngeal evaluation, and review ADA and ADHA oral cancer policies.

Susan Cotten BSDH, RDH, OMT, is a passionate speaker, author, trainer, and oral cancer coach. As founder and CEO of Oral Cancer Consulting, Susan developed the “Cotten MethodTM” a dental practice office system and screening method designed for dental providers, teams, and DSO’s, who want to be confident, efficient, and thorough in screening and reduce their risk of liability. Susan is the Dental Lead for the Alliance for HPV Free Colorado and is a Director for Dental Codeology Consortium.
